gat 2010 in Stuttgart – the leading industry meeting point has grown again!
The future potential of gas and the role of the fuel in the context of the German government's ambitious climate targets were the main focuses of the 49th gat gas industry conference, held in Stuttgart on 30 November and 1 December 2010.
About 3,000 experts from the gas industry and 200 exhibitors met in Stuttgart to discuss the future of natural gas as a fuel. With its innovation offensive, which was at the centre of the programme, DVGW gave the gas industry decisive impetus for the future-oriented nature of natural gas. "For me, it is clear that only the utilization of existing gas infrastructure and new gas technologies will allow renewable energies to be integrated into the overall German energy system in a sustainable way," Dr. Jürgen Lenz, DVGW Vice President Gas, underlined in his opening address.
Highly promising options for solutions were outlined and discussed in a large number of presentations and platform discussions. With information on the latest developments in energy policy and technology, gat 2010 once again allowed efficient dialogue between representatives of government and commercial and technical specialists. All the participants agreed that technology will need to provide the solutions for the transformation of energy systems.
Germany's largest gas industry exhibition
200 exhibitors presented technical innovations connected with natural gas and biogas as well as the latest products and services in an exhibition area of about 5,000 square metres. This year, the extension of gat to two full days, the generous breaks and the new pre-conference event, which was very well-received, offered significant added value. "The overall package of presentations, exhibition and get-together was very popular with participants and exhibitors and underscores our claim to be the leading gas industry platform in Germany," reported Reinhold Krumnack, responsible for the event with DVGW.
